ELM is more than a music program – we change the trajectory of our students’ lives by providing them with skills that are transformative and transferrable.
ELM’s ultimate goal is that students complete the program as musicians, scholars, and leaders who are prepared to thrive and contribute to their community.

Meet our Alums: Class of 2023

Abi Alvarado, Oboe
Abi plays the oboe and flute and has been in ELM since she was 5 years old. She is an animal science major at UC Davis and plays the oboe in the UC Davis Symphony.

Amrit Cheema, Trumpet
Amrit played the trumpet with ELM for two years and is currently studying computer science at the College of Marin, with plans to transfer to UC Berkeley next year.

Cristian Chi, Clarinet
Cristian played the clarinet with ELM since he was 7 years old. He is enjoying life as a student at Dominican University of California, where he’s majoring in biology and chemistry.

Andrea De Leon, Violin
Andrea started playing violin with ELM when she was in elementary school and joined us again for her senior year. She is now enjoying studying ot the College of Marin.

Yasmin Díaz, Violin
Yasmin returned to ELM for her senior year of high school, after initially starting to learn the violin 10 years ago. She plans to transfer to UC Santa Cruz and major in psychology.

Angel Gomez, Flute
Angel has been playing music with ELM since he was 5 years old and music been part of his life ever since. He will begin his second year of college at UC Merced, where he is studying psychology.

Esmeralda Morales, Cello
Esmeralda has been in ELM since she was in elementary school and has enjoyed playing the cello ever since. She is studying at the College of Marin.

Valeria Solís, Cello
Valeria has been playing the cello with ELM since she was 5 years old. She is currently studying at the University of LaVerne.

Tavi Stafford, Trombone
Tavi joined ELM when he started high school. He is studying computer science at The University of Vermont and continues playing the trombone.

Dilan Gonzalez, Violin
During his four years at San Marin High School, Dilan made music a priority. As a student musician, he played violin in his school orchestra and tenor sax in the concert band. Dilan is now attending CSU Long Beach and pursuing his interest in bioligical sciences.

Kareli Escobar, Violin
Kareli spent the last nine years playing the violin at ELM student while volunteering with the Marin Clinic, passing out supplies and translating for Spanish-speaking families. Kareli is currently studying to become a nurse San Francisco State.

Leslye De Leon, Clarinet
Leslye is committed to using her voice for change. For her Minds Over Matter project, designed to address mental health issues in the Latino community, Leslye was honored as a Marin Youth Volunteer of the Year. Leslye is now studying economics at Pitzer College.

Miriam Velazquez, Violin
Miriam has volunteered for years as a member of her church choir and has helped welcome visiting musicians from Mexico who come to play with the church band. Miriam is a proud Cal Poly Pomona student who wants to pursue a career in the music industry.

Nicolas Lau, Violin
In addition to playing the violin with ELM, Nicolas served as the concertmaster of the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra and has also performed with the Take a Stand Orchestra under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel. Nicolas currently studies at UC San Diego and continues to play the violin.

Yesenia Díaz, Violin
Yesenia prides herself on being an active member of the community. She played tennis, studied the violin, and volunteered helping ONE TAM to preserve and restore trails in Muir Woods. Now a student at Cal Poly Pomona, Yesenia looks forward to receiving her degree in architecture.
